UNDRESS

For Sun Safety, By Sontse

Uncovering Personal Journeys That Could Save Lives

Because your skin is worth protecting, and your story is worth sharing

As warmer months approach in Australia, the topic of skin cancer becomes increasingly vital. In November 2024, we launched our second, annual sun safety campaign - Undress. This campaign is all about us going beyond the surface to undress the delicate conversation around skin cancer.

We partnered with Kellie Finlayson and Sophie Edwards, the dynamic duo behind Sh*t Talkers Podcast to amplify these stories. Together, we brought you a series of intimate discussions, featuring voices from all walks of life - a skin cancer nurse with a personal story, a woman and mother of three who faced the possibility of not being here for them, a Stage III and Stage IV Melanoma Warrior, who we interviewed to share about their life-altering journeys and how this has shaped their lives.

Raylene’s Story

A Skin Cancer Survivor’s Take on Sunless Tanning

Raylene, a mother of three from Melbourne, was diagnosed with melanoma in 2022. Her story is a powerful reminder of why sun safety is so important. After undergoing surgery on her central chest, Raylene’s journey toward recovery has been emotional and challenging. Today, she continues with regular skin checkups and has been given the all-clear, but the impact of melanoma still weighs heavily on her.

Michelle’s Story

Michelle’s Melanoma Story of Resilience & Raising Awareness

Michelle's life changed after her melanoma diagnosis. In this candid interview, Michelle opens up about her journey, from growing up with little knowledge about sun protection to advocating for awareness and education on melanoma. Her story is a reminder of why campaigns like Undress are vital, and the importance of protecting your skin, no matter your complexion.

Maddy’s Story

TikToker, Nurse Maddy and Her Mission to Make a Difference

After nearly two decades in the health industry, and a family history touched by melanoma, Maddy has seen firsthand the life-saving impact of early detection, sun safety and the importance of prioritising a more sun-safe lifestyle. Now, through her work at Skinovate Clinic in regional Victoria and her growing online presence, where she reviews sunless tanning products, she’s on a mission to inspire others to prioritise their skin.

Chloe's Story

Chloe’s Powerful Reminder that Skin Cancer can Affect Anyone

In her own words, Chloe opens up about her skin cancer journey—sharing how a seemingly harmless spot on her eyelid turned into something much more serious. She reflects on her sun habits growing up, the emotional toll of her diagnosis, and how it’s sparked life-saving conversations with her family and friends. Chloe’s experience is a powerful reminder that skin cancer can affect anyone, no matter their age.

Cassidy’s Story

Cassidy’s Couple Close Calls with Cancer

In this candid interview, Cassidy opens up about the challenges she faced, the importance of trusting your instincts, and how her personal battle with skin cancer has shaped her outlook on life. From seeking second opinions to undergoing life-changing procedures at Peter Mac, her story is a powerful reminder of why skin safety should never be taken lightly.
